During a Manif d’art residency in collaboration with VU, Rika Noguchi turned her unusual photographic vision on arborists at work, those agile climbers caring for trees way up high.

Rika Noguchi

Rika Noguchi was born in Saitama, Japan, in 1971. She completed her studies at the College of Art at Nihon University in 1994. A few of her solo exhibitions stand out, in particular those held at the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, UK, the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo, Japan, the Mongin Art Center in Seoul, South Korea, and more recently the Izu Photo Museum in Shizuoka, Japan. Noguchi’s works have also been presented in group exhibitions at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City, the National Art Center in Tokyo, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, the 55th Carnegie International, and the 21st Biennale of Sydney. After living in Berlin for 12 years, the artist now lives and works in Okinawa, Japan.
