Aphélie 1 by Patrick Bernatchez is a post-experimental installation. It refers to the daily recordings of a natural phenomenon: the luminous variations of the Sun.

Patrick Bernatchez

(Montreal, Québec)

Self-taught artist Patrick Bernatchez was born in 1972 and lives and works in Montreal. His works have been shown in various solo exhibitions at the Casino Luxembourg in Luxembourg, the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, The Power Plant Gallery in Toronto, and at the Argos Center for Art and Media in Brussels, Belgium. He has taken part in international group exhibitions, including Oh, Canada at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art and Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin/Madrid. A finalist in the Sobey Art Award in 2010 and winner of the Louis-Comtois Award in 2015, he is represented in the collections of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.
