The Colony is a video installation transporting the viewer to the Chincha Islands on the Peruvian coast, an emblematic place of international geopolitical tensions generated by the exploitation of rare natural resources.

Dinh Q. Lê completed a bachelor of arts degree from the University of California in 1989, and a master’s degree in photography and media from the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 1992. His work has been shown at the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, UK, the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, the Contemporary Art Centre of South Australia, the Nam June Paik Art Center in Yongin, South Korea, Documenta in Kassel, Germany, and the Singapore Biennale. His works are part of collections at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum in Japan, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
