Beat Streuli acts as a chameleon by photographing anonymous pedestrians, unbeknownst to them, in their daily comings and goings amongst the perpetual buzzing of the urban jungle.

Beat Streuli

(Switzerland, Belgium)

Born in 1957 in Altdorf, Switzerland, Beat Streuli studied at the Basel School of Design and the Berlin University of the Arts (1983). Since then, solo exhibitions have been dedicated to him at the Tate Gallery in London, UK, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, France, and the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, UK, and he has taken part in the Sydney and Singapore biennales. In addition to permanent exhibits at several venues across the United States, Europe, and Japan, his work is part of important collections, including those of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City and Centre Pompidou in Paris, France. He divides his time between New York, Sydney, Düsseldorf, and Brussels.
