Parastou Forouhar

The Time of Butterflies, 2011

Papillon Collection, 2010

Digital prints

Parastou Forouhar’s butterflies appear to be visual syntheses of the notions of freedom and constraint. Individually, however, they seem as trapped as the bodies depicted on their wings; but after gathering together for the same flight, they once again soar towards the sky, towards freedom.
