Although Joyeux festin may at first seem sentimental or sickly-sweet, certain equivocal details suggest that appearances may be deceiving. Within this opulent décor, we discover eruptions of joy here and there: evidence of a powerful and spontaneous passion.

Cynthia Dinan-Mitchell

(Quebec City, Canada)

Cynthia Dinan-Mitchell has a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University and a master’s in visual arts from Université Laval. Her work has been shown in several solo and joint exhibitions in Canada and abroad and especially at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Museo Berardo de Belém (Lisbon) and the Cupar Arts Festival (Scotland). She has won many grants and distinctions, including the Videre Relève award for visual arts and the Plein sud grant in 2011. Her works are in the collections of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, of the Ville de Montréal and the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec. She is represented by Galerie D’Este (Montreal).
