FOLIE/CULTURE

LOUP GRIS, 2010

APRIL 29 TO MAY 2, 2010
INTERVENTION, MAY 1, 3 P.M.

“Man is a wolf for man.”

The familiar image of the man-eating wolf occupies an important place in the collective psyche. Folie/ Culture is toying with codes by betting on the symbolic image of the stuffed animal and the playful representation of this fascinating and worrisome character. The Grey Wolf rising from the top of the Théâtre de la Bordée looks down over the city and its inhabitants, menacing the population until, a few days later, the beast is slit open, its life fluid spilled. The public is invited to participate in the ritual evisceration. A tongue-in-cheek look at irrational, imaginary fears that plunge us into stupor as much as they keep us alive.

Folie/Culture

Folie/Culture’s mission is to promote the work of recognized professional artists and to incite reflection on issues relating to mental health. Our goals and preoccupations encompass on the one hand, projects in contemporary art and, on the other hand, raising awareness of mental health issues, specifically through the meeting of both. The organization supports, generates and presents the creation of original work—by professional artists and people with emotional difficulties—that addresses and expresses madness.
