(Arctic Bay, Nunavut)<\/p>\n

Born in 1955 in a hunting camp on northern Baffin Island, Manasie Akpaliapik moved to Arctic Bay in 1967. He learned to sculpt at the age of 10. Since then, his work has been collected by the University of Oklahoma Museum of Art, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Mackenzie Art Gallery (Winnipeg), the Mus\u00e9e national des beaux-arts du Qu\u00e9bec, the Canadian History Museum (Gatineau), and the Mus\u00e9e des confluences (Lyon). In 1980, he moved to Montreal, where he lived for several years. He now lives and works in Toronto.<\/p>\n
